Review of Logitech Bluetooth Receiver for Audio Devices: Reliable and Balanced

Downloading songs and tracks to laptops and phones becomes the main method for me to enjoy music these days, and that is the same way everyone does. Compared with this convenience the process of getting up and changing CDs seems not only troublesome but also very old fashioned. As a result, I’m not the only one who has a dusted Hi-Fi system sat at the corner.

I can’t remember how many happy nights were accompanied with it. Playing CDs and perhaps a glass of wine brought me more comfort, maybe that is the same with you. Although it gives great quality sound, but the inconvenient operation prevents us to continue.

Does the Hi-Fi system enter the end of itself? Of course not. This little gadget made by Logitech company changes all these, and presents a new life to my stereo system with a wireless capacity.

Main Features of Logitech Bluetooth Receiver

Not so long ago a physical connection through cable seemed the only choice when you want to connect to any Hi-Fi system. Listening to music using your phone with a traditional wire connection, would be very problematic and troublesome. If a phone call were coming, you just have to stand up to reach your phone. Missing call sometime is inevitable through this connection.

This is not ideal. Logitech Bluetooth Receiver changes all these in a convenient upgrade. It can stream music instantly from any Bluetooth smartphone, or any other Bluetooth devices such as iPad or iPod touch to your audio system. You can listen to songs and movies using your good speakers from your iPhone, iPad instead of those small built-ins.

Logitech bluetooth receiver provides a reliable wireless connection without having to dock or wire mobile device to the home audio system. So I win the true freedom to move freely, and the real mobility of my mobile devices. As for now, the most simple and convenient way to wireless your music is through Bluetooth steaming. That is what the Logitech Wireless Speaker Adapter created for. Simply pair your Bluetooth smartphone or tablet with the receiver/adapter. Plug it into any A/V receiver or bookshelf system using standard RCA cable or RCA to 3.5mm jacks, and you’re ready to hear wonderful wireless music.

Let me emphasize before any detail, streaming music via Bluetooth is excellent but not perfect.

Green LED  Shows Paring is Established

Logitech advertises its own product in this saying:“Turns your favorite speakers into a wireless sound system. Logitech® Wireless Speaker Adapter for Bluetooth® Audio device uses Bluetooth wireless to stream music or other audio from your PC, smart phone or tablet.” That is exact the same I want to say about Logitech Wireless Bluetooth Receiver.

What’s in the Box

Packaging in a blister box allows us to take a glance at the main features of the receiver, and keeps this small toy shiny new without any scratch. Like all the other stuffs from Logitech, the package back is easy to open. It includes Logitech Wireless Speaker Adapter, 3.5mm to RCA interconnect cable, power cable, instructions and 2-years limited hardware warranty.

Easy Control

Only one button labeled “connect” is found on the upside of the tiny device, and one led indicator is placed on the front. This stylish design provides all the basic but necessary function that needed. The receiver is small but heavy enough to support the weight of my modest RCA cables. After some digging on the web I found the secret: a metal plate is added to ensure this good footing feature, and this design prevented the problem of shooting off due to the weight of cables plugged in.

Just a short view of the instructions I promptly plugged the RCA cables into the back of my DENON amplifier, plugged the other ends into the device, placed it at a suitable place, put the power cable on and was prompted by a red light. After pressing the only connect button, the receiver gave a beep and status light sparked green and dark in turn indicating ready for pairing. Turned my iPhone Bluetooth on, found Logitech adapter in the available devices list and hit connect. Another beep and the always green light showed the connection was stable. All these finished within 3 minutes.

Sound Quality

Sound Quality of Logitech bluetooth receiver is not worse than an iTunes download running directly through a cable. The first expression is just good. Running a playlist including many genres, that were all encoded at 128Kbit/s, I cannot tell differences to my ear between using the cable and via Bluetooth, far from what I was expecting. This is where I am utterly blown away by the performance of the Logitech Wireless Speaker Adapter. I was able to make exactly the same conclusion by running the same test using my iPhone. Incredibly impressive from a simple device costing just $30.

Streaming Range

The streaming range is up to 6-7m not the 10m suggested by the Logitech. Within that range the receiver gives audio as good as being set on top of it.

The point of the Logitech Wireless Speaker Adapter for Bluetooth is given how cheap it is. If you want to get better-quality music from your mobile phone, this is a good choice for you. Sound quality may easily outclass most PC speakers you can find today. The convenience this adapter offers bringing my music listening habits from the past decade back. My Hi-Fi is alive again!

It’s priced well enough at right around $30, affordable for anyone who is trying to find a relatively inexpensive way to turn his wired old stereo into a wireless new one. Because of its performance, and the super price I cannot do anything but highly recommend the Logitech Wireless Bluetooth Adapter for you. Don’t hesitate to get one as a little gift for yourself, and maybe another for your friend.

Does this work with headphones too? I just purchased the model above this and don’t have any speakers to test it on at the moment so plugged my headphones in the 3.5 to test and it sounded horrible and crackly and if the cable was touched it would crackle. Is this because headphones don’t have their own power supply, and it will be fine with speakers, or do I need to take it back? Thanks

This Logitech bluetooth receiver can work with headphone. As you have noticed this model has no amplifier function, it has to be plugged into a music receiver or sourced speaker to work fine.

I bought the Adapter and it is terrible – We tried it out in store before i took it home and there was a lot of interference, static and crackling. The assistant said it was because of crap speakers. I have a Sony Xperia Z2 phone and am connecting via that. I have a yamaha receiver and Bose speakers at home and the terrible sound is exactly the same. I intend returning the product next weekend!! Do you recommend a better quality adapter?

Do NOT buy this. Mine malfunctioned shortly after the warranty lapsed. It paired with something and apparently locked up. I spoke to Logitec and there is no fix .
